I have been making a variety of videos during and after my education in both Film & Television and Television Reporting & Programming majors. Due to my double major and genuine interest in cinema, I have had the opportunity to experiment with different styles, varying from experimental video art to music videos.

MUSIC VIDEOS

MASLAK-KADIKÖY

Music video for Elif Işık's third single

About this video:

This music video was shot in a single day in various locations throughout Istanbul by me with the assistance of my talented friend, Irem Caran. Timelapse, double exposure, warp stabilizer, skin retouch, and color correction techniques were used during editing. Lumetri color and channel blur were used on top of each clip to create a polished VHS look for the entire video. Lastly, lyrics were added and synced to the music video as open captions.

Music video for Elif Işık's second single

About this video:

In our first collaboration with Elif Işık, my assistant İrem Caran and I decided to use a gimbal with a slow-motion camera for this energetic music piece. I used multi-camera editing to synchronize the music with the footage. A lot of effort has been put into skin retouching and color correction.

Short vıdeos

Eminönü'nde 6 saat

This is one of the videos I made during an assignment in İstanbul, back in 2015. It was shot within 6 hours on an afternoon at Eminönü, as the title suggests. It was edited to the rhythm of a royalty-free classical piece by Fabrizio Paterlini.

The blanket

This one is a very short stop-motion animation starring homemade puppets and playdough props. Although there is a huge room for improvement—the pins I used for attaching the puppets to the ground are conspicuous, for example :)—it was a passion project created in 2015 within a few sleepless days. I shot approximately 300 photos with a professional software called Dragonframe and its onionskin technique to create this half-minute-long animation.

The WOMB

This bizarre 2016 video is captured by a macro lens using several plant-based items from the kitchen to create a haptic experience for the audience.

Vıdeo art

occupıed and fragmented space

I made this video as a part of a self-portrait video art project in 2017. Various shots were combined on a split screen. The changing lighting in each shot created a vertical block in the whole frame—distinguishing each time/subject within the same static shot.

Mom

An unreleased one-minute tribute to motherhood, fragility, attachment, and aging. It is a simple juxtaposition of negative images of butterflies and caterpillars with photographs from family albums. I used the overture of the song "Virus" by Björk, one of my favorite musicians.
